"Laika 38" by Akira
(2006-06-12)

A conversation went to a strange direction with Haruna and Fuuka than I expected. This strip releaved Haruna is a woman (with a good/bad feeling) after all. I'm little bit glad it turned out like that.

  1. Even though "love" is important than "family" to Haruna, still "family value" still weighs quite heavily on her when she said "your family will become firm by this marriage".

  2. Haruna was little glad/happy since a very strong man (like Jung) is preferred for Laika's marriage. Onii-chan can not be a candidate, she thinks.

With this strip, I just wanted to pointed out:

  1. "Accident" was to save Fuuka and... Jung got injured by it.
  2. Laika was able to control her oni before?
It turned out Haruna's act out performed these revealing facts, in my opinion. Go Haruna :)

"But that's up to her" will be quoted with "<" and ">" later. I forgot to add them. ^_^;

Next Season's Anime

Here are list of anime I'm going to watch next season (information from Moonphase).

  • Honey and Clover II (13 episodes) - Yes, the sequel of the fantastic anime/manga will be starting from 6/29. But I wonder how they can do 13 episodes with just 1-2 volumes of manga episodes left...

  • Binbou shimai monogatari (10 episodes) - I think I've read this manga some where..., but found it rather boring, but watch it anyway ^_^;

  • Power Puff Girls Z - Yes the anime people were waiting for will be finally out. I think Totaku will be happy to hear this?

  • Otogi Kenshi Akazukin (three seasons) - SF fantasy based on Grim Tales. I remember this title since they were the first one who sold OVA with figure inside years ago.

  • Tsuyo Kiss (13 episodes) - I'm very very very disappointed they totally changed both voice actors/actresses and character designs... I truely love voice actors for Subaru (by Takuya Sakuma - Zakusu? from Gundam Seeed), Fukahire (by Ryou Horikawa - Vegeta from "DBZ", Yokoshima from "GS Mikami", Hattori from "Detective Conan", Rheinhert from "LoGH"), Heizou ( by Norio Wakamoto - Cell from "DBZ", Maste from "Maison Ikkoku", Gargoil from "Yoshinagasan chi no Gargoil"). The game was fan because of these male characters. How could they turn wanderful game into a plain moe anime... ; _ ;

  • Angelique - I'm interested in views from girl's harem.

  • Zero no Tsukaima (13 episodes) - Anime will cover up to volume 3 of the original novels. I'm happy that anime will cover "Zero" battle (end of vol. 3) which really got me into the story, but again the best part is end of volume 7...

  • Bokutachigaita (26 epiosodes) - Animation of one of very famous shoujo-manga. I was thinking of reading this manga, but I guess I'll watch anime instead.

  • Muteki Kanban Musume One of few manga I read from "Weekly Shounen Champion". This manga is not moe at all even though main characters are all girls. Story and characters are very destructive and I enjoy reading this manga.

  • Chocotto Sister - I was a fan of "Boku no Marie", so I automatically becomes fan of this one too ^_^;

  • Tonagra! - I've read the manga a little, but didn't find it too attractive. But watch it anyway.

  • NHK ni youkoso! - It's portrait hikikomori very well. It's really painful to read this manga.

"World Cup" by Konstantin
(2006-06-13)

The World Cup is here, and even I am excited in spite of my general aversion to sports. Guess I spent enough of my formative years in Russia to have picked up the soccer (football, it's football, dammit!) bug. Unfortunately, Russia failed to make it out of the qualifiers (you may have had to spend 4 hours in line to get toilet paper in the old days, but goddamn, the USSR could field a quality team), so now I'm torn between rooting for the Ukraine (political differences or not, but the Kiev Dinamo is still Dinamo, and I'm a Dinamo fan), the US (if a team wins a game, but nobody cares, does it still win?), and Japan (you watch enough sports anime, and it becomes second nature).

Unfortunately, if today's performances are anything to go by, this is going to be a pretty depressing World Cup for me. The US got creamed 0:3 in its first game, and Japan let 3 goals through in the final 10 minutes after holding a 1-point lead for most of its game (and it still has the 800-pound gorilla that is Brazil ahead of it in the round-robin phase, Orz). Doesn't help that there aren't any live webcasts I can watch at work (stupid time difference), so I'm stuck reading BBC's text feed. Ah well, Ukraine is still unspoiled, and weirder things have happened (see Greece, Euro 2004).

On a completely unrelated note, it looks like AnimEigo's license for KOR is going to expire near the end of July, so if my rant last week has managed to pique your interest, there's less than two months left to acquire it legally in English. They're selling off their stock at firesale prices, so now is as good a time as any to pick it up. I was one of the original 1500 LD preorderers that convinced AnimEigo to give the TV series a shot, and it's definitely been an honor to have been able to contribute however little to the series' decade in America.
