Finally chapter 4 of "Magical Mina" is done. I'm so happy ^o^! 17 pages total... I started this chapter on
June 2nd, so it's about a month worth of work. I put all my technique, effort, and energy (+time) on these 17 pages. These are the best I could do right now. But.... the sad thing is.... a lot of people don't like "Magical Mina" ;_; I get fewer comments, visits drop by more than thousand, I get very few fan art or guest comic of MaMi, and half of people voted they prefer ExCoKo than MaMi in
this poll... sob... I guess I have to try harder next time.
I usually set a goal to each chapter. Chapter 1 of "Magical Mina" was my first try of doing consecutive story (in manga format). "Experimental Comic Kotone" is usually one strip long, so this shift was a great challenge for me. Chapter 2 was my first try on doing hardcore action sequences. I had a very tough time, but I think I did pretty well. In chapter 3, I tried to study the water effects.... but I admit I totally failed on this. Water is really really difficult to express. I should have waited at least a year before I started this chapter. In chapter 4, I studied the effects of fire. I think I did pretty well with explosions, but I had trouble drawing flames. Mina is getting stronger by fighting magical creatures, but I'm becoming a better artist by drawing these chapters. Both Mina and I are improving through each battle :)
Since most people prefer "ExCoKo", next "Magical Mina" will be three months later (around October). Three months of "ExCoKo" and one month of "MaMi" are about right (three chapters of MaMi per year). I don't think I can maintain my health if I continue this pace longer either... I am exhausted.
