How come Mina knows about "tentacles" eventhough she hasn't watched anime? Maybe she was reading a web comics?
If I think about it, idea of using plant for sword is pretty old idea. Original idea was: Plant sucks blood from human through vines and roots and hardens itself to sharp sword-like figure. Human use this sword to protect himself. Human benefit from this plan (handy weapon, it can shape into any weapon) and plant benefit from human too (transportation, nutrition). I think I thought of this idea when I was in high school. If I think about it, that setting is very close to "Parasite (kiseijyu)" (Again, I was thinking about it before I read that great comic). Anyway, it's interesting that old idea is being used today to draw "Magical Mina".
