This is the end of Haruna's flashback dream sequence. This happened when Haruna was around 17-18, more than a year before she met Onii-chan.
I don't know much about leukemia, and I'm drawing a comic strip about it. I feel guilt, since there is a lot of people who are suffering from this disease... Sigh...
In my opinion, Mamoru shouldn't have canceled their marriage. He should have let Haruna visit him everyday until the day he die... Instead, he chose to break a bond between Haruna. One of the reason he broke a marriage is because he knows Haruna is a type of person who dedicates herself to be single for rest of her life for her loved one... Also I think he didn't want Haruna to see him get weak and worn out day by day...
In my opinion, Haruna shouldn't have ran away like that. She should have said, "I don't care. I'll be with you no matter what. I love you", and hug Mamoru... Instead she ran away from harsh reality....
