"Rants" by Romy
(2003-02-15)

Well, happy Valentine's Day, everybody!

Over 50 entries for the Valentine's Day Drawing Contest!! That's really amazing. I've certainly enjoyed viewing all the sweet illustrations people provided. Hmm, perhaps I should have drawn something related to the celebration of the lovers.

The Valentine's Day is a bit different in Japan. Girls give chocolates to boys whom they are in love. This is because girls usually were not to take initiatives in making moves toward their opposite sex. But this is long ago. Things have certainly changed.

I brought chocolates to my office colleagues. Those chocolates given to males but not necessarily on romantic motives are called ?giri-choco" (meaning ?obligatory chocolates"). But the chocolates given to the real sweethearts are called ?honmei-choco" (meaning ?real love").

Anyways, I'm enjoying the chocolates that were delivered to the office by one of the fans of our company?the staff who are working really hard day and night are also appreciating those support shown by their fans. But I hope they won't eat too much chocolate?sometimes sweetness kills, you know.
