"Laika 21" by Akira
(2006-04-12)

New anime TV series I've checked so far (while I work on the comic strips). These are my impressions of the series after watching first one or two episodes. I'm sure this will change after watching more episodes.

  1. A+ Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu - I love this type of anime.
  2. A+ Nishino Yoki Majyo - The story started out very nicely.
  3. A BLACK LAGOON - very good action scene and I love the characters so far (especially Japanese salaryman ^o^). They are cool.
  4. B+ Utawarerumono - I finished playing this game and it was good. Anime is following the game pretty nicely too.
  5. B+ School Rumble 2 Gakki - I love original manga anyway.
  6. B+ Higurashino Nakukoroni - This non-H doujin-shi game is suppose to be very very very scary and good. I hope anima is also good too.
  7. B ARIA The NATURAL - very nice warm atmosphere.
  8. B XXXHOLiC - It's better than expected.
  9. B- Princess Princess - Cross dressing guys :)
  10. B- Girl's High - Filled with unnecessary panty-shots. It is stupid, but it's good.
  11. C+ Yumetsukai - Original manga is very strange, but very interesting. This anime didn't quite capture the atmosphere enough...
  12. C+ WITCHBLADE - Looks interesting.
  13. C+ Yoshinagasanchi no Gargoil - Looks interesting.
  14. C Soul Link - I didn't buy this game.
  15. C Strawberry Panic - another lesbian anime.
  16. C- Inukami! - Is this "Urusei Yatsura"?
  17. C- Himawari! - Another generic harlem anime?
  18. D .hack//Roots - I'm not that fond of this main character -_-;
  19. D RAY THE ANIMATION - I can't tell if this series supposes to be funny or serious... -_-;
  20. D- Glass no Kantai - Well... no comment...

I haven't checked these series yet:

  1. Tokyo Simoun
  2. Tokyo Love Get CHU
  3. Nihon Ouran Koukou Host-bu
  4. NANA
  5. Himesama Goyoujin
  6. Renkin 3kyuu Magical? Bokaan
  7. Sasami Mahoushoujo Club
  8. Demonbane
  9. The Third ~Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo~

"Long hard tiresome night. >_<;;;;" by Totaku
(2006-04-13)

Sorry or the delay.....this weekend is turning out to be quite a busy one for me, I had to prepare a portfolio that I was going to enter for a scholarship so I had no ime to fill in the rant tilll now.

Besides....I don't have much to say this week except for some reminds and stuff AKira and Konstantin have talk about already.

Like AKira and the Konstantin, I've had my chance to check out April's anime line up in Japan. And from what I saw...I am very pleased with what's been happening. ^___^ I haven't had a chance to see the full roster. But from what I've seen I can definetly Spring is promising in Japan.

for starters I had a chance to see The Mecholancy of Haruhi Suzumiya and I have to say like AKira and Konstantin, I am overwhelmed by how cool the show is. That show almost grabbed me instantly (epecially with the first episode (very unique way to start an anime XD) It's got almost all the perfect elements to an anime to make it awsome and cool. XD So far from my view point Haruhi is full of awsome while I find Mikuru to be the most adorable character I seen in a long time (even if she seem to be shedding tears every so often.) But seriouslly I smell great potential with this anime, and if it continues to deliver the way it has been it will surely be anime of the year.

The biggest anime I was dissapointed of was Disgaea....mainly because the change in the plot totally threw me off gaurd from what I was expecting. The whole anime's take another route from the game is self plus looking at the character quality I'm beginning to wonder if they shoveled all the money on the promos since the rest looks sort of...poor. But at least the humor seem to be intact....But I'm feeling very iffy about this anime....I'll give it a few more tries to see if it can heal the wounds it had opened....

And finally from the anime list I have my underdog pick Inukami definetly an odd one of the list...make me thing of Lum meet Dokuro-chan meets uhhhh Cho Aniki >_<;;(at least episode 2 is like that)....very, very very strange bizarre and yet it might just work, but right now I say it's a bit early to say. I might look at it more though. (Yoko is pretty on the eyes even if she happens to throw you in really odd situations.:P)

Oh and don't forget this Saturday Eureka 7 debuts on Catoon network During the Adult Swim session.

if anyone want to talk about this stuff feel free to make a thread and if we don't I'll probably talk about Eureka 7 and my view of the English version next week.

Until next time....Ya Matta. ^__^

"Laika 22" by Akira
(2006-04-17)

I've reworking/refining (mainly inking) unfinished pages this weekend. I completed recently uploaded pages: Laika 18, Laika 19, and Laika 20. I'm working on other pages too. There are still eight more uninked pages... Sigh... I'll try to work on the new page if I have time. Sorry for the long wait.

"Spring Season, Continued" by Konstantin
(2006-04-18)

More stuff from the new season. Didn't actually get around to watching any of the shows I've been planning to this week, but still have plenty of first episodes to review. This is shaping up to be a great season so far, with tons of shows, and lots of them potentially good.

Ouran High School Host Club - This wins, pure and simple. Didn't expect all that much, but the show completely won me over with its insane characters, gorgeous animation (Bones does shoujo? what?), and genuinely funny sense of humor. It mercilessly pokes fun at the assorted conventions of the pretty-boy genre and is also an intricately crafted Utena spoof, so anyone who loved, hated, or just saw any amount of Utena should definitely check this one out and count the visual references. Between this, School Rumble, and Haruhi, I think we're set for quality comedy this season.

Zegapain - Finally, a Sunrise mech show without the word Seed in the title. Sunrise being Sunrise, the animation looks solid if not spectacular, though otherwise the first ep didn't have many particularly strong or weak points. Still, I've got an appetite for some mecha action, so I think I'll give it at least a couple more eps to prove itself.

Simoun - The first ep left me pretty ambivalent. On one hand - high production values, gratuitous lesbians, and Noto Mamiko! On the other - technobabble out the wazoo, ridiculous mech designs, and what is shaping up to be a pretty generic all-female air squadron plot. Plus the character designs turn me off for some reason - the faces look more doll-like than anything in Rozen Maiden. Still, I think I'll give it one more ep to redeem itself. Want to see whether the technobabble is just a smoke screen, or if there's actually some meat to the world.

Soul Link - Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first *plonk* of the season. Made it past the opening, but not quite all the way to the eyecatch. Looks like a generic fanservicey eroge-based show. Too much potentially good stuff coming out this season to bother with this.

In completely unrelated news, anyone watching Fate/Stay Night should check out Unlimited Maid Works (translation here) at Heaven Stairs. Had me in stitches all the way through. Also, apparently there's an unauthorized live action pr0n adaptation called Faith/Stay Knight (link work-safe, mostly), whose badness is hilarious. Haruhi woulda been proud.

"Thought on Eureka 7, the spread of Haruhism, and some Rozen Maiden stuff." by Totaku
(2006-04-20)

The semester's near the end, I got a few projects and a presentation to prepare before this Wensdays. ^^; But I think I'll make it.

Anyways, since no one took decided to make a topic I'll discuss my thoughts quickly about m thoughts on Eureka 7 in the US. So far, even though I only saw one episode I like it. I love the art style, I like the characters so far and the story seems to grab me even though I felt rather abrupted (it was episode one so...) While that was good one of the things I sort saw that sort of bugged me were some of the dubbed actors while the majoritiy did a great job I can't help but feel bugged by Renton's VA he does a good job with Renton's character.....but when he begins to whine and fuss he actually gets annoying. x_x It'll probably become better overtime. But for now, my rating for the dub of Eureka 7 is 8 out of 10 but like I said...this is from first impression I do expect it to get better though. ^_^

In the next part of the list is Haruhism. By now everyone should know about Haruhi since Akira, Konstantin, and I made mention to this series and how good it was. ^^ And as for right now the show still seems to be keeping it's pace going.

Since Haruhi has been going on werid and interesting things have been poping up on the net regarding Haruhi. epically stuff from episode 00 (AKA episode 1)

For starters there's the gundam pardoy of the dance sequence that occure a the ending of every Haruhi episde located here
And one which some odd fellow does the dance sequence here. To be honest...I donno rather to make fun of him or laugh at him.
You can compare them to the dance form the anime here

There are plenty of other wired videos based on HAruhi like the Mikuru beam, but giving what I just show you I think it's best I let you look at the other cause this alone is pretty weird as is. XD pretty much the sum it up, I think the SOS brigade seems to be reaching out further than expected. XD

Finally during my time on 4chan, I did find some interesting stuff on one trip I took to /a/ when someone brought up this interest site. The site I'm reffering to is a Rozen Maiden fansite that was done by an artist that I'm sort of familar with that has done art 2ch His site is located here. He's got alot of nice art especially of Suigintou (mostly in human form). Also he has an interesting comcept called ROZEN BLAME! which is sort of what happens if you cross Rozen Maiden with the manga BLAME! it looks cool and has this very dark look for a crossover.

This about covers this week;s presentation, if you have anymore thoughts feel free to make a thread about it in the forum.
Till Next time...
Ja Matta~! ^__^
