"Saimoe Finalists" by Akira
(2006-11-01)

Hmm... I'm still working on pOnju anthology, I don't think I can work on ExCoKo this week. So instead, I decided to draw chibi characters of Saimoe finalists: Fate and Suiseiseki, inspired by Totaku and Konstantin's rants past weeks. I was hoping for Fate to win.... ;_;

"Nyoro~n" by Totaku
(2006-11-02)

Since Konstatin decided to go into "desu mode" I decide that while I go into do a "nyoro~n topic" (Don't think I'll top him though. ^^;;)

By now, mostly everyone here who watches anime here, may have already seen Suzimiya Haruhi by now. If you haven't yet, for shame, you need to take a look at it. Now for those who have seen it, you probably know of the lovable charaters from the show such as Haruhi, Kyon, Mikuru, and Yuki.

But one charater that some may have payed attention too is a fairly minor charater who's unique personality and laughter make her standout. This girl I am reffering to is Tsuruya-san. While Tsuruya was only a minor charater in the series, her unique personality, long green hair and charms made her well like, especially on the internet.

She is known by many on the net as "LOL-fangtan" because of her laughter and her fang that you usually see when her mouth is open.

Regardless of that, one of the things that made Tsuruya so popular besides these features were a series of silly comics created on a site called Utsura Uraraka which have become a sensation over the net and in otaku fandom. Thses comics are known as the "Churuya comics". Churuya is basiclly a chibized format of Tsuruya. In each of the comics Tsuruya will usually ask a certain charater a question or idea after getting their attention, but then the charater will usually say something that usually overshadows her idea or her idea gets shot down and then she wimpers out her popular phrase "Nyoro~n". This is a trend that goes on a most of the comics that are done, but they sometimes change a little bit too.

Anyways, you can find some Churuya comics here.

And also there are plenty of parody comics based on the Churuya comic epscially one that pays homage to the Tsunami Channel done by Decagon. ^^

Other than that, that should cover today's topic.
Till next time!
~nyoro~n! ^_^
