| "Working on the Site" by Akira (2008-01-02) |
I've been working whole day to improve TC site. Here is the list of what I did:
- By clicking on the TC banner at the top left, you can jump back to the top page.
- By clicking on the comic strip image, you can browse to the next page. It gets handy when you are browsing through the comic archive.
- Menu column and main page column are centerized. Suggestion from Konstantin.
- Number of columns of archive pages decreased from three to two. Suggestion from Water.
- I separated the "interesting links" and the actual content of rants, so I can organize and maintain the list easier than before.
- Added interesting link menu on the left side.
- Added date information to comic navigation menu.
- Added favorite youtube on the right side.

| "Horrible video games: The strange world of Cheetah Men" by Totaku (2008-01-08) |
Hello everyone,
Sorry for the long delay, I usually do rants on a regulrar basis, but lately I've been pretty busy trying to find my own place to work (I'm still pretty much NEET at this moment. >_<). I was suppose to cover the Saimoe tournament and Touhou Saimoe as well, but that all came to a stop since I've was busy working on the website which I'm still waiting for the web master to put up. Hopefully when she get's to it, I'll show you all when it's complete.
Anyways, today I plan to talk about something different. Not the usual doujin games where we have little magical girls fighting faries and other things through danmaku, but rather something very different. We're going back to an old time...known as the 90's when some unknown company called Active Enterprises appeared on the scene. They relased a special game called "Action 52" on the NES. What is Action 52 you may ask? It was a unique game cartriage that held 52 games inside it. And it costed around $200 at the time. If any of you had ever had ahold of this item they you all obviously known that the games on it were very horribly made. There was even a contest held for one game that the prize was $100,000 and was imppossible to achive since the game was glitched and could not be completed to get the code to send to enter for the prize.
But among all these horrible games was one that just probalbly well put together (but still horrible) known as "The Cheetahmen" The games plot revovled arond some boy who plays a video game and get his leg grabed by a robotic arm and dragged into the video game world, when the boy recovers he see three big mutant Cheetahs that tell the gamer that they will protect him and then the run off on thier quest (uhhh....yeah) And so you go on a quest as you run around beating up random creatures while going through 2 stages each. And after every two stages you use another cheetahman.
If you want to see the game in action you can see it here on this game here and you'll see why this game looks horrible.
Also the game came packaged with a Cheetahman comic and advertisments for figures that ended up never coming out.
Eventually the company, but before they did they did attempt to make a Cheetah Men sequel mainly because they were attempting try to complete with Ninja Turtules, but never even lifted off the ground. The game reamins in a box in a wearhouse until someone found it in 1997 and decided to the 1500 copies that were made. As a result the world was exposed to CheetahMen II. And as a result Cheetah Men II was far worse than the first one in terms of game play and control. You can't duck or fight the eneimes on the ground and tons of cheap deaths occur with a result dying continuouslly and making near impossible to play. But if your you'll make it to the forth stage before it freeezes and your stuck. Talk about terrible programing!
It's no wonder why this is considered to be the worst game in exsistance. However not all bad things come out of such a horrible monstrosity.....
In Japan seem to have taken a big liking to the Cheetahmen for one reason... the only good thing, it's MUSIC It seems that you are bound to find many musical variotion of the theme on Youtube and Nico Douga. Heck it's popular enough that it even has a CD of music variation that came out at Comiket 73.
Anyways, this covers my talk for today. Hope you enjoy this strange monstrosity.
Till next time
Ja Matta ^_^
