"Laika 16" by Akira
(2006-03-08)

I started working on this strip around 11:00 pm and finished on 4:30 am. I'll go to bed now. Good night.

I was scared by those things when we stayed at my grandmother's house. Going to a bathroom at night was really really really scary.

Please write your comment to this strip at pOnju forum

"Unexpected attack, Rozen Maiden, and a trip to Ole Miss" by Totaku
(2006-03-09)

Well today is one of those days where you encounter something in your life that you usually hope you never ever come across. >_< I was unfortinate enough to mee ths unexpected encounter.

On Tuesday Night when I was heading home on the bus as usual and right around 10:00 I was dozing off when BAM!!! a gunshot like noise occured and everyone immedietly ducked until the bus stopped. Pretty much we got up and found out that someone had thrown a pipe at the bus and it broke through the window. It was a very scary experience and it delayed my trip home for 30 minutes. During the dealy we had the police come in and take pictures of what happened as well as ask us all if we saw anything. Luckly noone was injured from the incident. However, I've been sort of nervous since then for a while. I think I'm more calm now.

Besides that incident, I've been enjoying my job for a bit. ^_^ I've been able to sit down and watch some animes that I've havent had time to do in a while. This week I got to finish watching the anime Rozen Maiden and from what I can say....the series is very well organized and well constrcuted. All of the characters in the series have a significant importance and the main characters are lovable.

Just to explain Rozen Maiden is a series that deals about a boy named Jun who has been going through some problems lately with school and all he does is spend time at his home locked up in his room surfing the internet and buying werid stuff off the web like charms and gadget. He recives a letter that ask him to circle one of two options: To wind up" or "Not to wind up". Jun decides to pick wind up and before long some packages come to his home (from the stuff he purchased among one of the stuff, he fins a suit case and within it is a doll. He winds up the doll and it comes to life and slaps Jun in the face telling hin he had no permission to wind her up but before long black feather fall and an evil clown doll appears and Jun is faced with a perdicerment where he ends up having to kiss the doll's ring and become her medium (and her servant). Once defeating the clown doll, the doll introduces herself as Shinku the fifth Rozen Maiden. From there on Jun ends up going through some situations that would evetually change his life and hopefully get him to get motivated again....I could go on about it but I gotta hurry and return to work.

Besides that, I traveled to Ole Miss today to deleiver my portfolio for a contest that is being held there. I was amazed at the size of the place. It made my university look small. XD But it felt so far flunge as well I wonder how some people get back and forth from classes if they travel by foot (Its about 5 times the size of our campus. @_@) Anyways wish me luck with the contest. ^_^

If you feel like talking about my situation, feel free to make a topic and discuss in the forum.

Until next time...
Ja Matta. ^_^

"Busy, busy, busy" by Konstantin
(2006-03-14)

Been extremely busy at work this past week, since today was the deadline for the initial deployment of my department's new central server. Had to work through the weekend, but made it, somehow. Now I know more about Linux email than is conductive to one's sanity. ^^; Needless to say, I've been too brainfried to do much of anything by the time I got home, other than continuously refresh /b/ on 4chan, which in itself isn't particularly conductive to sound mental health.

I did manage to finish off Living Game, though, and it stayed excellent throughout. Definitely worth the trouble of searching for. And speaking of searching, it looks like someone at Something Awful happened across my picture while looking for something that screamed weeaboo nerd. Sad thing is, I'm actually feeling kinda honored. Lol, internet.

"Hello world, meet the alternet world: an internet fad" by Totaku
(2006-03-16)

Well, Sorry for the delay yesterday, I was busy trying to come up with something. I was originally going to start showing off idea of art that I do beyond graphic desgin today...

But something came up late last night that caught me by surprise. I donno how many of you know about this site but I think I'll explain it to you.

If you ever heard of a site call You The Man Now Dog.com(mostly worksafe, but sometimes not worksafe so use caution) Then you probably know about how strange and funny that site seems. It not like a 4chan site or anthing like that, but it share some eqivlalance to it, except it's not it more of an america culture site which put Japanese stuff sort of at the side.

Originally the site was desgined when a man named Max designed a repetative wallpaper piece with Sean Connery on it and you could hear Sean as he said ine of his famous qoutes from "Finding Forester"..."You the Man Now Dog!" along with large bolding text in the forground. It wasn't long after that when Max desgised to lanch a site where people could make stuff like that and from there...that where lots of intersting concepts came up such a making jokes on "Waking up with the King", "Conan O' Brian", "Willy Wanka", "lol intenet", ect....

If you go exploring the intetnet as much as I do you know exactly what I'm talking about here. XD But anyways...lately, YTMND has been going through a phase that I can only describe as....outstanding....the only way I can describe it is by saying that it like looking into an alternet world.

It all started when someone made a YTMND site showing a scene from Finding Forester where it showed where Sane Connery said his line. Before long someone caught on to when Sean a few seconds before hand and claimed the YTMND could of been call Punch the Keys for God's Sakes!.....before too long.....something odd happened someone decided to come up with some really unusual idea based on the idea of what if YTMND was called PTKFGS what would the site's fads and stuff be like then..

With the an alternet universe has developed now known as PTKFGS on YTMND. Pretty much it's the fastest growing fad I've seen take place and the possiblities for it are almost...limitless(They even made thier own watermark for it now. Take everything you know about YTMND...and then....make a completely opposite universe out of it. With that...normal idea that you usually see on the internet have a new prespective now.

For example let's take one of the popular phrase such as.... Lol, internet and then....we rearange it in the alternet universe and you get.... Omg, Internet! or we take The O RLY? owl and it becomes the R U SHUR? cat in the alternet universe. Another one is the pi song, the alternet universe's version is the e song (e is the opposite of pi, although I think the e song needs work). And my final example is Batman saying mindless blabber, in the alternet world it's The Joker going Chacaron.

This has to be the most interesting fad I've seen in a long time on the interent net and it's spread like fire on YTMND (althogh some YTMND fans are really disliking it, but more like it.) Regardless of that we could see this alternet universe perhaps spread further....in fact I going to make a topic on this so go here to check it out here. Perhaps you all have some crazy idea how maybe....the Tsumani Channel would be like if it were.....in an alternet universe. >:D

Well that covers it for now....
Till next time....Ya Matta. ^__^

"Fansubs Again" by Konstantin
(2006-03-21)

These past few days there's been a flurry of fansub discussion in the anime blogsphere, and a lot of what's been said is far more insightful, informative, and better researched than my own disjoint ramblings on the topic. In particular, I think Ai to Yuuki's two entries, Jeff Lawson's (he's back to anime blogging, w00t!) post and Anime on My Mind's response to both of them make for especially interesting reading. A lot of the points made definitely ring true with my own experience, as do their rationales for both watching the fansubs and buying the DVDs.

In the end, in my case, fansubs are a way to stay current with what's going on in Japan, anime-wise, form a mental DVD shopping list, and get ideas for Vermillion schedules. A DVD purchase for me is equivalent to casting a vote for the show, the only genuine way of giving it the Konstantin Seal of Approval, and hopefully marginally influencing the decision to make more of that type of anime down the line. Plus they look damn neat on the Wall o' Anime.

In completely unrelated news, dancing catgirls!
