"Laika 19" by Akira
(2006-04-05)

I came back from work around 10pm tonight and started working on the comic strip from 11:30 pm after dinner and shower. It's already 6 am in the morning and I'll be waking up around 9 am today (3 hours of sleep). The comic strip took more than six hours. It's not complete, so I'll finish up when I come back from work tonight.

More than 30 anime series per week. I really need to manage my time well...

Series I enjoyed watching last season:

  • Noein - Pacing was rather slow sometimes, but fighting scene animations were superb and cool, and story was good (enough for me) and ended up (wrapped out) very well too. I enjoyed Noein eventhough character designs were rather interesting ^_^; I liked OP music too.
  • Majikano - Quality (of silliness) didn't go down at all... Eventhough it's the typical harlem anime, surrounded by lovelove-scary-unpure girls were interesting spices (to me). The ending totally nullified everything that was built up through out the series. Interesting way to end the series :D
  • Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror. The third installment "Bakeneko" used very very very interesting animation style. It was very experimental, but I really liked it. It wasn't scary, but it was extremely fun to watch. Other first and second installments were soso...
  • Shakugan no Shana - They decided to make a movie out of "Shana"... It shows how much "tsundere" character is needed in this "otaku" world. Next anime series I'm expecting a lot is "Zero no Tsukaima. I read the light novels, but the main character is undoubtedly "Tsundere". She is the queen of tsunderes. The animation is expected to be aired on July 2006. I can't wait for the next season.
  • Mushishi - I was a fan of "Mushishi" to start with and this anime captured (followed) the manga very very well. Although they decided to stop showing at Episode 20 at Fuji TV Station... I can't watch "BS Fuji", so I'm rather sad about it... By the way, the last episode (Ep.20) was one of my favorite episodes from the manga.
  • Eureka7 - Quality of anime and story is above standard always. Some of the episodes are god-quality good (sometimes).

"Eureka 7 in the US, some nice flash and more" by Totaku
(2006-04-06)

3 weeks away before I'm away from the pressure of school for a month...It's just getting more intense for me right now so I'll keep it short.

Basiclly there has been some new anime on the line up for showing here this Spring here in America as well as the fall. While it's sort of unknown what all of them are right now. I do know that on April 15th CN plans to start airing the just recently completed series Eureka 7 on the Adult Swim hour of Cartoon network. Those that haven't watched the series yet or know much about it you can think of it as sort of like an Evangalion for the new genration. I've only seen snipets of the anime, but looking at it's art style and apperance I can say it looks very promising for a mecha series. So if your hungry for a new look at Mecha in a unique way be sure to watch Eureka 7 on the 15th on Adult Swim.

And if you miss it then....you can always go to Anime Village (during the April 16th-21st) to see a stream of the first episode for free(legally).

On flash news....I got a very powerful flash that you all should really see. If anyone knows of John Su (creator of the flash piece Final Fantasy A+ then you should know that he has a very funny and unique method with his anime flash works.. just recently he reappered after a 1 year absnece because he just finshed up an intense flash project he did by himself.

The name of this flash is Shoo Fly. This is only a one minute long flash, but the quality and the animation is beyond anything any flash artist really sat down and tried to make. This is cause a good majority of the flash is done with frame by frame animation(compared to those that use short cut methods). He uses a style that is known as Mickey Mousing (or as I call it Fantasia syncing) where the animation moves in sync with the music. This is getting great reviews at newground and to me this could become a big talk for flash animators to try to attempt. Unfortnatly John Su got a little exhausted after attempting this he thinks he doesn't want to attempt this again....personally though....he should slap this in a portfolio and go look into an animation industry.

Fianlly on a werid note....I found this interesting graphic design site done by this flash animator H. Hoggerburgge He does alot of werid animations and stuff....most of it's worksafe, there's still a few here and there that isn't...but.. anyways, he mainlyy does alot of werid stuff involing using filmworks and converting it into werid art. just looks at it....you'll find it weird.

Among my favorite is....FLOW which is a really weird an interactive movie so feel free to have fun an enjoy the weridness. XD

Quick update from today: Apperently the famous imageboard site 4chan is celebrating Golden Week....and as part of the special for golden week they're allowing people from Japan to visit thier site thistil May 9th. So anyone from Japan who was curious if 4chan is anywhere nearly as crazy as 2ch can go take a look. ^^

That's it for now. If you want to speak about the rant feel free to make a topic in the forum as always.

Till next time....Ya matta! ^__^
