Parody Strip #27 "New Character Introduced?"

"New Character Introduced?" by Akira
(2005-10-03)

I'm mocking myself again. I did use "introduce new characters whenever story slows down" technique in "Experimental Comic Kotone" too (for example, Shion? Alex?) ^^; It's a nice way to boost readers attraction, but it effects fades away pretty quickly. So one way to avoid this is to keep introducing new characters infinitely (just like Ranma 1/2).

Today's comic strip is a collaboration work with my sister, Romy (She's currently visiting Japan). I came/touched up with the joke/layout/dialogs and she drew the strip. From about a month ago, we were planning to do collaboration parody strip for Monday slot (starting today)..., but I don't think that can happen anymore. I'll ask her to draw one more strip for next week (sequel to this), and I'll do the parody strip by myself from next time (if I have time). Today's strip is only a rought sketch, she said she'll finish this tomorrow morning (completed and uploaded finished version). I hope she write a rants too (hopefully).

"New Schedule" by Konstantin
(2005-10-04)

Two pilgrims approach the hallowed grounds Hello everyone! I'm Konstantin and I will be supplying you with filler^H^H^H^H^H^H witty banter every Tuesday, Akira and writer's block willing. Looks like Akira is determined to get this site running on a regular schedule again, and Romy, Totaku, and I are going to pitch in. So as it stands the planned schedule is going to be my rants on Tuesdays, Totaku's rants on Thursdays, Akira's rants on Saturdays, and the actual strips by Akira and/or Romy through the rest of the week.

It's been great seeing Akira again when I went to Japan this summer, and I was pleasantly surprised when, between plumbing the depths of used doujin shops and hunting for maid cafes in Akihabara he mentioned wanting to get back to drawing. While as far as I could tell his art was still in top form (he even managed to sketch up a thorougly moe interpretation of our waitress during lunch), Akira wanted to get back into regular practice, and I was not about to dissuade him. ^^

The trip itself was tons of fun. Aside from hitting up the fannish spots in Akihabara, Nakano, and Ikebukuro I and the three CMU friends with whom I came also did a healthy dose of regular sightseeing and exploration. The highlights were the night spent at a luxury ryokan at the Arima hot springs, gorging myself on takoyaki and okonomiyaki on an Osaka shopping street, and the last day, when we hit up Comiket 68 with Akira. The picture above is us in front of the Tokyo Big Sight before descending upon the semi-annual doujinshi mecca. Kinda sad that both of us ended up losing the long hair in the name of gainful employment. Ah, the sacrifices a man must make in the name of moe (all 45 kilograms of it in this case).
