  • Java Anime Maker Sample 2009/04/17 - Testing if it's possible to create a movie file from comic strips (which I've drawn) using Java Anime Maker. I didn't put much effort to this movie clip, but end result looks satisfactory. It might be interesting to use this JAM for voice acting project. The movie is just translation / scaling of an image. If I separate an image by panels and put more effects to the movie, it might look more professional.

"Java Anime Maker Sample 2009/06/17" by Akira
(2009-06-17)

Sorry for a long absent. It's been exactly two months since I last updated my website. What I've been doing was coding day and night to implement part/component feature to the Java Anime Maker (JAM) program. It's the one of the most crucial features I wanted to work on for years.

I think some old TC reades remember I've created a javascript program where a click on an image part changes character's pose and expression. Eventhough image variations were quite limited, it worked quite well widen the character expressions. But to tell you the truth, that was only half of the thing I wanted to do. The real goal was to fill in the gaps between images, so it looks as though it's animated. I've worked on another Java program which does a simple anime calculation in the past, but I wasn't skilled enough to combine both aspects of programs into one.

For two months, I spend most of my free time coding. There were couple of times where my program logic turned out to be wrong and I had to reconstruct the architecture from the beginning. There were times when I didn't want to look at the screen, but finally I finished it. There is lot of space for improvements (like color fill, for example), but I just wanted to celebrate my hard work. Thanks.

I uploaded Kotone-chan sample at sample page. It worked fine in my Mac, but I wasn't able to run the program on my IE. I don't know why...

Please write your comment to this strip at pOnju forum

  • Java Anime Maker Sample 2009/06/17 - Finally I finished programming. It took me two months to add a new component feature to JAM. It was very difficult, but I did it! This movie clip was created with the new feature and now anyone can make animation with just a click.

"Long Absent Again" by Akira
(2009-08-01)

Sorry for a long absent AGAIN... At beginning of July, I bought iPhone and being developing with it for close to a month now. I've been developing fanatically and I think I got hang of it. My goal is to transfer JAM to iPhone, so you can play with the animation even you're outside your home!

But then I realized it's already August and being neglecting comic strips for close to four months. I'll start drawing agin and finish this story arc which has been going for too long. Although I fear I can't draw well for a while, but I'll try

By the way, I've created two blogs. One is for iPhone development and another for list of interesting links. I spent time implementing a blog functionality to TC, but thought keeping contents (comic strips, programming, and link) separate might be for users' interests. These blog sites have RSS feeds, so when the page is updated, it'll be notified.
