"Rants" by Akira
(2001-11-12)

Aaaa... I'm really confused by Laika's character. She kicks Onii-chan's ass when ever he makes fun of her, but it seems like she likes him a bit... But she is not a person who admits that she likes this looser (actually Onii-chan isn't that bad...) and doesn't want anyone to know her feeling (I assume...). Her personality is still very vague and I really really don't understand her. She is the most difficult character to draw in this comic.

Comic strip joke is an old trick from "Kimagure Orange Road". Since "KOR" is a classic, I hope I don't have to explain about it. And yes, Laika was based partially on KOR's heroine, Ayukawa Madoka. Although, Laika is more destructive since she has a power of Motoko from "Love Hina". Also, she has an appearance of Urashima Kanako from "Love Hina"... I have to admit that most of the characters I draw are based on characters from my favorite animes and mangas... Ah, where are the originalities?

I'm still very bad at drawing background and character-background interaction... I think one of the problem is that I draw characters first and then realize I have to draw background (to fill in blank spaces)... This is really a bad way to draw a comic. I should think about the position of characters and angle of the scene and then draw... I still need a practice.
