"Lisa" by Akira
(2010-09-08)

Again, there is no punch line or joke in this strip. I just wanted to draw Lisa. It's been a while since I last drew Lisa, but I think I managed to draw Lisa fairly cute. Some people might notice, but I forgot to color Lisa's cloth in the third panel. I was pressed for time. I need to fix it later.

"Looking into Touhou with detail - Flandre Scarlet" by Totaku
(2010-09-08)

Even with the incident of the scarlet mist gone, there was still one more task that needed to be done. Assuming you managed to beat the game on normal without using a continue. You get access to the "Extra Level" and in that stage, everything is much harder. It makes the other stages look like a walk in the park. But it's here the team confront their most dangerous opponent in EoSD.

The Sister of the Scarlet Devil...

Flandre Scarlet

While the events of EoSD were over, a few days later Reimu and Marisa end up returning to the mansion once more. Some reason something wasn't right as there was rain pouring around the mansion and no where else. So the two go into the mansion to investigate.

Along the way they run into Patchouli who told them that the current affaird that was going on was none of thier business as it was a problem of thier own and asked them to leave. However the to pursisted and so Patchouli once again enters Danmaku combat with Reimu and Marisa now using her strongest magic from the sun and moon catagory as well as the five elemental spellcard "Phlosipher's Stone". Eventually they defeat her and press on and that when they confont an unfamilar face.....

A young vampire named Flandre Scarlet...

Flandre like Remilia is a vampire, but unlike Remilia, Flandre is somehow more powerful than her older sister (which is a strange trend that occurs on Touhou, as the younger sister seems to have stronger and more dangerous danmaku)

Flandre's main ability is to cause instant destruction. By this, I mean what she does basiclly envision the object that she wants to destory, and then located the "eye" or weakspot of that object, and from there, crush the weakspot with her hand. Which then in turn caused the object to explode.

Because of Flandre's dangerous nature, Remilia decided that for her own safety as well as for Flan's that she would seal her in a room for 495 years. So pretty much since Flandre became a vampire she was sealed away for her own safety due to her power.

She was very coorperative and stayed within her room. And would eat the cake and tea that was served to her. Eventually though as it turned out, she would brake out of her room because she heard some excitment going on (as in the events that happened during EoSD) and so she wanted to "play".

When Flan sees Reimu and Marisa she decides that she wants to "play a game" with them. A danamku game...one coin, no continues ( a refference to the fact that extra expects you to beat the stage without losing all your lives) And so with that an entense Danmaku battle ensued....

As expected, Flandre also appears to look no younger than 10 though she is in fact roughly 495 years old (in EoSD's time frame). And dresses up in a strong red color. But one thing that is most notable about Flandre are her wings.

By apperance her wings appear to look like thin wooden or stick like structures shaped simalar to a wing, and on the under side of them are colored gems that come in every color of the rainbow on them. While it's unknown why her wings are different from her sister's it's known that those wings are incapable of allowing her to fly. But since in Gensokyo, every one learns how to fly anyways, this pretty much means she learned to fly through magic most likely....

Flandre also weild a strange shaped weapons which is called Leavathan, based after the sword from Norse Mythology and uses her weapon in the form of a spellcard in one occasion creating a giant red laser and sweeps across the feild leaving bullets behind with every swing.

Most of Flandre's spellcard card and centered around childish game and refferences to her character inclduing her weapon and her 495 years of imprisonment.

Either way eventually Flandre would be defeated and promised to stop her antics, and within Marisa's story, she asked Marisa to come back and play with her again.

After of EoSD, all that is known about Flandre as of this point is that she's is allowed to go walk around the mansion as she pleases now, but she is sort of a "shut-in" in terms of that she doesn't leave the mansion grounds. Beyond that everything else about her is a unknown....

In the fanon world, Flandre is extremly popular among the fan both for be destructive and adorable. These two elements would be the key things that would make Flandre have personality in her fanart. Most doujins will try to protray Flan as one of two types of charaters.... either a psychotic destructive vampire, or as a cute, childish vampire (that more immature than Remilia).

Course being the sister of Remilia, fans tie the connection to her right away. But also fans also connect her to Marisa, thanks to the ending dialouge between her and Marisa. And of course Meiling sometimes get paired up with Flandre, what other person out there would be put in the worst position to take care of the more destructive sister, than the lowsy door gaurd herself. :P

Also fan's seem to like her theme song "U.N.Owne was her?" through from what I know mostly western fans seem to be attached to this song mainly due to certain Japanese Ronald Mc Donald parodies that helped people become familar with Touhou.... (In Japan, Remilia's theme Serpetette of the dead princess" is the most popular song according to TOuhou Saimoe....

So as of right now, it's unclear what kind of future Flandre will have if any at all due to the fact ZUN never gave Flandre much attention after EoSD, so with that, that all that is known....

Next time, I'm doing a quick double feature. As I'm going to cover some nameless midbosses that seem to get attention among the fanbase. Despite having no real name, they are still named.... this will be the last thing I'll cover about EoSD before moving on to the locations known from EoSD.

Till next time
Totaku
